death with interruptions

José Saramago

Editorial Design I Project

The interpretation of Saramago’s book refers to the rawest aspect of human life: death. Throughout the book, a chromatic, schematic, and imagistic path of what is representative of Death, with capital D, is traced, as well as its figurative transformation into a human, earthly body, which incarnates the greatest responsibility of all in itself – to kill. A dense book that carries a symbolic weight which deconstructs itself through the pages, without the reader even minding its lightness.
