“Europe, you who didn’t hear the voice from the depths of time…” [translated from:](Adolfo Casais Monteiro, 1946)

Starting with a record of an everyday place – the coffee shop ‘Frigideiras do Cantinho’ – in a European city that holds a tangible historical and cultural heritage built in ‘being’ European, the place was captured while aiming to keep that historical side in second plan. Implicit to the visual construction, a game between proximity and distance was played to make an interpretative filter of the short-term analysis of the market (commercial activity), which obscures the historical cultural heritage, which is relegated to a second plan, nearly imperceptible, forgotten; that is the true essence of ‘the European’.
